Our monthly update from butter!

Kia ora whanau,

Butter here. The sun is coming out, and our vegetables and gardens are growing well. The chickens are laying lots of eggs, and Shelley has loved her sunbathing. We have been having lots of fun organising our garden and have been lucky to have the help of Plant Pro, who came and transplanted a tree for us.

We also recently submitted a successful application for a kai ora grant We are using this to purchase some new additions to the garden, including mandarin, apple, blueberry and passion fruit.

Our tamariki have been loving having access to playdough again now that we are no longer in the orange traffic light setting. They enjoy cutting lots of shapes, rolling and making gardens with greenery that we pick from our garden. Since it is heating up, we have remembered to be sun smart and apply plenty of sunscreen. Lucky for me, I have lots of fur and a nice house to escape the heat in.

We recently had a visit from St Johns where we learnt all about when and how to call 111 in an emergency, what the emergency vehicles look like and what each of them is for and even got to practice some first aid, bandaging each other arms. We then held a bake sale for St Johns, and we raised over $200 for this fantastic charity.
