There have been some exciting changes happening at BestStart Te Atatu Road.

We had some builders come and knock down the tunnel and the playhouse, and then they ripped up all the old grass, pulled out the road and smashed some concrete - the concrete cutter was really, really loud!

We were also lucky enough to have a digger come and visit Preschool. It was so fun watching the digger move all of the soil and rocks that were under the grass.

Once everything was all dug up, the builders started building our new outdoor area. They chopped some wood for the bike path, made a rock river, and put some soft stuff down for the playground.

The builders worked so hard over the last few weeks and the tamariki were so patient as they watched their new playground slowly come together. It was a great opportunity for the tamariki to observe and learn all about building and construction. They were able to find out the names of the tools and machines, the materials being used, and the ‘where, when, what, why, and how’ of everything in between.

It was well worth the wait!
