Our Nursery at BestStart Papanui
At BestStart Papanui our home-like rooms are strongly centred around aroha. Our Nursery is warm and inviting and our kaiako teach with kindness. We believe that even within care routines we show fun, laughter and plenty of love.
Our philosophy of care is based around emulating routines from home and building strong connections between nursery and homelife and we do this through a number of fun ways! Firstly, as a smaller centre we promote tuakana-teina relationships whereby our older tamariki will often visit our pepe for play and exploration. It is wonderful to see our older tamariki really take care of our precious pepe which is fundamental for both age groups.
Promoting this practice has proven pivotal in our center and creates a feeling of togetherness throughout our 2 rooms whilst improving our transition processes too. We also have a strong connection to outside spaces and we are lucky enough to enjoy beautiful, natural outside environments boasting fruit trees and plenty of space.
We believe these environments become a third teacher and we often bring the outside in to enjoy these materials in all weathers as well as enjoy all the seasons Christchurch offers us! Our tamariki love to experience the wonders of outside! Within our Nursery space we believe in free play and heuristic materials.
We ensure babies have a range of exploratory resources and absolutely love them finding their own ways to play and engage. As kaiako we don't interrupt play we simply offer ideas when needed. BestStart Papanui boasts a really beautiful space for your baby so please come and have a look!
