Our staff team is growing
We introduced the team who started with us when we opened in January 2021. We have had some more staff join our team since then as our numbers of children have increased and would like to introduce them to you here...
Kia ora. My name is Elspeth and I am excited to be part of the BestStart Huntsbury team. I live with my husband and three teenage daughters. I am originally a Cantabrian but I have lived in a number of different places around NZ and more recently, lived in the Middle East for 12 years. On returning to Christchurch, I completed my Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning (Primary) through the University of Canterbury. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, Pilates, walking and exploring the Port Hills. I love working with children and have a goal to create a happy, safe and nurturing place where children will thrive and grow.
Hi everyone. My name is Verena and I am the inhouse cook at BestStart Huntsbury. I was born in Austria and moved to New Zealand with my family in 2016. I have always had a passion for cooking and baking. With three of my own children, I'm well aware of how tricky it can be to get children to eat their fruit and vegetables. In my free time, I play bridge and love to swim at the beach.
Kia ora. I am Anne, an Early Childhood Educator with over 20 years’ experience, including 10 years of teaching in a bilingual Māori/English centre. My teaching passions include: nurturing children’s sense of security so that they feel free to learn, singing and storytelling, encouraging a sense of wonder, waiata, and te reo Māori. My hobbies include playing my guitar, being part of a community choir group, and keeping fit.
