At BestStart Glenfield we have been extending our opportunities for our tamariki to explore nature. We have recently started a garden to table programme where tamariki of all ages plant and care for our vegetable gardens. We have also had 4 chickens join our learning community recently which has been very exciting as our tamariki learn how to care for our chickens on a daily base. It is very exciting when we discover eggs hidden in the nesting box.

We feel a great sense of community when we are able to share veges, seedlings and fresh eggs with our whānau.
We feel so lucky to be able to offer experiences like these in our suburban setting, and feel it’s important for our tamariki to grow their understanding of the wider world through everyday experiences and care routines.
