Our trip to St James Park

Today we went adventuring into our local community to explore our environment. We went to St James park and had fun testing out the limits of our Tinana (body) and developing coordination of our gross motor skills (essential to developing fine motor skills later in life such as the pincer grip) all whilst breathing in beautiful, fresh, clean air.

We enjoyed a delicious snack of fresh watermelon (yum!) and some sandwiches as we sat on the park bench, noticing our surroundings. We noticed piwakawaka (fantails) and heard cicadas amongst the trees.

We all LOVED the slides on the playground and tried climbing up them as well as sliding down. The children especially loved the challenge of trying to climb up the slides and showcased a very persistent disposition. They were all so happy to explore this new space.
