Our trip to the local library
Today we took a trip to our local library. As we walked, the children noticed the leaves on the ground, with lots of interesting conversations about how they fall off.
At the library we took part in Wiggle and Rhyme, having great fun singing and dancing. We learnt that dancing helps our bodies build up the skills needed for school, not only for balance but for writing too!
We explored the Matariki displays and created feathers of our own to place on their Korowai, strengthening our community bond. We had lots of enjoyment choosing which books to borrow and share with our classmates on our return!
The children realised that we don’t just use our eyes to enjoy books, but we can use touch or our ears to listen.
The children also had lots of fun selecting some sensory books for our Infants and Toddlers, as well as our students with additional needs.
We look forward to our weekly visits, to see our favourite Librarian and to see how the Library and our environment changes each week.
