Welcome to our under-2-year-old whānau! In this ruma we have Jean-Marie, Amy-Jean and Amandeep.

Kia Ora My name is Jean-Marie Le Roux. I have a loving husband and two beautiful children, aged 7 and 9. We are brand new to New Zealand and are thoroughly enjoying the journey and experiences of the country we have had till date! I have a BED degree in Early Childhood Development with 6 years teaching experience over various primary school age groups. I am continuously looking for ways to improve and better myself, weather on a personal or professional level. Although I am mostly experienced in formal education, I am currently in the Pēpi room and thoroughly enjoying this venture. I have built solid and genuine relationships with the tamariki. I thoroughly enjoy the time I get to spend with them and to be able to aid in their development and growth journeys. I am very nurturing and kind-hearted of nature, which helps to further develop my relationships with my peers, tamariki and their whanua. My teaching philosophy is built on the core values of respect, showing kindness, acceptance, inclusion, encouragement, friendliness, consideration, and a positive and can-do attitude. A few of my favourite saying are: Bloom where you are planted! You won’t know until you try! – Positivity!! Learning is a life-long journey – we are never too old or too smart to learn something new! Teamwork makes the dream work!

Kia ora I am Amy, and I am a teacher in training at Best Start Somerset Street. I am a mum of 4 kids, 3 girls and 1 boy. I got into teaching because I have always enjoyed being around our youngest tamariki. I enjoy seeing and being a part of the huge development that happens between 0-5 years. I believe all tamariki deserve quality early childhood education.

Sat Shir Akaal I am Amandeep from Punjab, India. I have been living in Hamilton for many years with my husband and two daughters. I have graduated in 2019 with a Graduate diploma in ECE. I have been fascinated by children’s imaginations and their ability to learn new things when presented with the right environment and encouragement. This has led me to my pedagogy, as I believe that tamariki learn at their own pace and every child has unique qualities. Providing various opportunities through learning activities, weather building with blocks, playing in the sandpit or painting. Offering tamariki the opportunities to choose their own learning activity is a large part of my child led philosophy.
