Our Vegetable Garden
At First Steps Wattle Downs, our tamariki have been showing a great interest in gardening over the last couple of months. It has been a fantastic time to teach them about healthy eating and what plants need to grow, and in turn, what types of foods our bodies need to stay healthy. Our tamariki have been working hard everyday to ensure they feed our plants with water and that all of the weeds are picked from the garden.
Today they picked some ripe tomatoes and cucumbers and we will use these yummy vegetables to make a fresh salad tomorrow. We are waiting on many other vegetables to grow such as pumpkins, potatoes, strawberries and silver beet. Parents and whanau, if you have a chance, come and visit our garden. Our children have put a lot of hard work in there!
