Our walk up Monument Hill
The Hei Tiki tamariki of BestStart Kaikohe took on the challenge of walking all the way from our centre up to the top of Monument Hill! It was a 45 minute hike from the centre to the monument, which gave our tamariki a real sense of achievement when making it to the top! This was an opportunity for our tamariki to explore the memorial of someone very important to our area - Hone Heke! Nga tamariki were able to engage in discussion and investigation around who Hone Heke was and why he was so significant to the history of our area.
