Our Whanau Garden - BestStart Greerton
Here at BestStart Greerton we encourage our kids to strengthen their relationship with the environment, through exploration of and taking care of our surroundings. Our tamariki love being hands on and creating things, and they also love food. So we thought, why not combine them?
Tauranga Council has initiated a programme for centres and schools to get funding for projects that will increase their sustainability and get their learning communities behind it. We decided that this would be a great opportunity to build our own edible garden, that would nourish both the bellies and minds of our tamariki – we want to use this garden to grow food for our kai, to feed our guinea pigs and give out to our amazing community.
However, we need your help! The funding is only allocated to $35k worth of projects, and there are a lot of great entries. The way the projects are chosen to receive funding is through a public vote. So the choice comes down to you.
To vote, head to the website here and register. Then choose up to $35k worth of projects to fund and submit. Every vote for our project would get us one step closer to achieving this goal for our tamariki and their whanau.
