Rituals play a huge part in our centre at BestStart Hastings Central Kindy. We view rituals as our rhythm and flow of the day, allowing the children to ground themselves, breathing in and breathing out. Foot spas are a winter ritual that is set up with deep consideration and aroha (love). Warm water fills our spa, and the sweet smell of lavender fills the air as it diffuses in the warm water. Petals are sometimes put in the water to nurture our well-being and help us feel connected to Papatūānuku (Earth mother). This time is a peaceful time for the children to relax, to breathe in and out, to connect with their wairua and to support their well-being. Kia ora.
