Our wonderful nature walks
At BestStart Papanui we are so lucky to be near by local parks and wonderful nature walks. Our pepe love to be outside in the surrounding areas and have been enjoying some beautiful walks. Our Kaiako talk to our pepe about what they are seeing, smelling and experiencing and you can see by their delighted faces that they enjoy these incredible excursions.
Te Whariki states that children are learning through active exploration of the environment. Exploration/mana aotá¿¡roa ensures that we are learning about the world around us and we are developing understandings of the natural, social, physical, spiritual and human-made parts of our environment.
As kaiako (teachers) at BestStart Papanui, we pay attention to our natural surroundings as we enjoy an incredible outside playground and gardens. With this in mind we often talk to our tamariki about respect for Papatuanuku, Ranginui and atua Maori.
We feel so lucky to be able to enjoy all aspects of our natural environments.
