Starting off our Chinese New Year festivities, our tamariki from the Tūī room discovered how the twelve zodiac animals relate to the ‘Spring festival’. A great chance for them to learn about the different animal species as well as socialise with their friends while making stronger connections with one another.

Next, tamariki got involved with being creative and learnt how paint moves and blends across the paper all while strengthening the dexterity of their hands and improving their hand-eye coordination. Then, a fantastic surprise to cap off the day! A

giant Chinese Dragon came sneaking through from the Kea room. With the many helpful and skilled Kea room tamariki supporting each other to make the Dragon's legs, they gave us all a chance to experience the bright colours of red and gold - linking to the five elements of wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. Red corresponding to fire and symbolising Summer, warmth, and energy. Gold representing the Earth, which signifies the season for harvest and the late stage of the cycle of life.

A truly magical sight to see, and a chance for our tamariki to learn more about their world and the cultures of their friends! So, come over today! And give us a visit! Be part of the fun, play and learning here at BestStart Stokes Valley!
