Out in our community
At BestStart Judea, we visit The Bayview rest home monthly. This is a wonderful opportunity not only for our tamariki but the residents at The Bayview. Our tamariki get very excited as they ensure they have their shoes, hat, and sunblock on, ready to go.
Once the roll call has been made, we are off on our adventure, down the path and in to The Bayview grounds we go. On our journey to The Bayview our tamariki get to practice their skills on keeping themselves safe, as we stop and check for cars and make sure the way is clear.
Once there, we sing a welcome song and a few favourite actions song that the residents love to sing along too. For this month's visit, our tamariki engaged with the residents playing games with balloons to support their hand eye coordination and sharing and turn-taking skills.
Then we say a farewell and, on the trip back to the centre, we stop to collect natural resources for our tamariki to use in their play. We look forward to the fun activities on our next trip.
