Outdoors Summer Fun!
With this beautiful summery weather which we have been so fortunate to enjoy - it has been an obvious and very fun choice to have oodles of water play happening up in the Kauri Room.
Throughout December and now January - tamariki have been enjoying water in many forms, frozen with hidden objects to discover inside, free flowing to cool down in, or transport about or even help us do slip-n-slides and when it's REALLY hot, we attached the hose to a mist-spray which is suspended over our sandpit. This is often a favourite way for our Kauri tamariki to cool off while still enjoying open play in our vast sandpit.
Our fishing boat has been put to good use, it had a slight (and perhaps temporary) re-paint from the children, it's been washed many times and the amount of fish which get reeled in each day has been awesome! Kauri Room kaiako have been so impressed with the sunsmart knowledge which our children have really grasped, especially the application of sunscreen regularly (and we really do promote independence with this) and it's been great to see so many hats being worn. We hope that Te Ra continues to shine because we are absolutely loving the exploratory water-play which is continuously occurring here.
