Here at Best Start Remuera Road, Kaiako/Teachers set up lots of different activities for Tamariki/Children to explore, learn, and develop. We always follow Tamariki/Children’s interests to create different sections to engage with.

This summer, our Tamariki/Children love to draw and paint everywhere. To extend this interest, Kaiako/Teachers in the Nest (Baby) Room set up an activity for Tamariki/Children to paint in the outside area! They chose their favorite color and brush to start painting on paper.

They shared and took turns with their friends so that everybody had a chance to try. They tried to use non-verbal communication skills to show their happiness to each other. We can see how Tamariki/Children enhance their fine motor skills, social skills, and communication skills at the same time.

Such a fine activity for everybody! Infants also developed their creativity through this activity and they were able to engage with all their senses while painting. They showed their feelings and moods through painting and drawing.

This is also a great activity for infants to practice their pre-writing skills and color recognition as well. It also encourages imagination, boosts confidence, and can be a joyful and therapeutic activity for children.
