The Kea room has been learning about Papatuanuku as part of our bicultural curriculum. We have discussed how Papatuanuku/Mother Earth cares for us by providing sun, rain and fresh air and the part that it plays in our life. We have learned about the need to care for the environment, developed a worm farm and more recently our gardens.

Sustainability has been part of our korero and we are recycling materials within our environment including donations from local businesses and our whanau community. The tamariki have embraced this concept and are often seen adapting various items to create wonderful creations such as a bonfire. a cable reel wheelchair, a pallet garden and a cable reel car garage.

It is heartening to see the tamariki's imagination blossom as they find new ways to interact with natural and recycled materials.
