The cold and wet weather won’t stop us from having loads of fun outside.

We have recently gained some new amazing awning/shade outside which has allowed us to stay outdoors on rainy days to engage our tamariki in different activities. Parachute is one of our favourites!

Parachute play encourages our tamariki to develop team work, turn taking, following directions, and sense of rhythm. We listen to the music carefully to follow various movements to physically challenge their gross motor skills.

We walk, run, jump, sit down and stop as the music goes on. Our tamariki love to go inside the parachute to hide and there are always lots of laughter, smiles and giggles as they work alongside each other extending social interactions.

Tuakana-teina relationships are very visible as both Matakatia (Pre School) and Tuatua (Toddler) tamariki are there to interact and collaborate together. We would love to learn some more fun and interesting parachute songs and games to play!

If you are walking past or coming in to visit, you will see this much loved game requested time and time again!
