Over recent weeks, our tamariki and kaiako have been immersing themselves in an exciting learning adventure focused on honing their listening skills.
Using a dynamic approach, our kaiako introduced a captivating game using a parachute to engage our tamariki. Starting with simple instructions like 'big waves', 'small waves', 'fast waves', and 'slow waves', we ensured a solid foundation before advancing. With each session, our tamariki grew more confident, seamlessly combining instructions like 'big slow waves' or 'small fast waves'. This not only sharpened their listening skills but also fostered teamwork as they collaborated to execute the movements.
Our tamariki excelled in following instructions, prompting us to introduce a new twist to the game. They eagerly embraced the challenge of swapping places with their peers, first individually and then in pairs, eventually progressing to small groups. This engaging activity garnered enthusiasm from both tamariki and kaiako alike, becoming a beloved staple in our curriculum.
