We are very lucky to have our local school  across the road from us so that it only takes a quick 5 minute walk to go and visit. Today we took a group of three of our oldest tamariki to visit Room 8 and 9. We had a lovely welcome from the two teachers and the tamariki in the classroom and then settled into Jolly phonics watching our school friends do the actions and make the sounds of each letter of the alphabet. We had fun joining in on these actions and trying to make the sounds as well. Next it was onto reading a big book and discussing this then re- creating the different emotions on the faces of the letters we learnt about in the book.

We had a lovely time getting to learn about what happens at school and the learning occurring.
The teaching team led by Sarah (our teacher in charge of our be school ready programme) are passionate about ensuring we have a great relationship with our local school so that together we can ensure Nga Tamariki have a smooth and successful transition into the school environment.
