At BestStart Richmond Kindy our recent learning project has been around Games, Sports and Sportsmanship, and as a culmination of the learning we enjoyed a trip to our local gymnasium. The children built upon the physical skills they had learned during our project in a challenging, stimulating, and safe environment. When we arrived our host Emma explained the rules and then the children had free range to explore the gymnasium and the equipment including the foam pit, swings, high and parallel bars, trampolines, and balance beams. After a fun packed session, the children then came together to stretch and enjoy a parachute game. The children also loved travelling to and from the venue on the bus; there was lots of singing of waiata and of course "The Wheels on the Bus".

We were lucky to have many parents come long to help and share the fun; having family involved and getting out and utilising our community to enrich our children's learning are key elements of our centre philosophy. What a wonderful community learning experience which supports our vision to “Play together, stand together learn together”.
