Best Start Te Atatu Road is proud in supporting physical movement for our tamariki within the centre routines and daily activities. The tamariki have been learning about different aspects of this area such as eating healthy and keeping healthy. We are part of the Healthy Heart Foundation and are working towards getting the whanau silver award.  Recently we had a community sports day with other centres and had a lot of fun together!  We have been learning through play by showing each other how to do roly poly, yoga, dancing, trying different types of cultural food and other physical movement experiences.

Our tamariki love exploring our new resources to extend this learning, which requires them to focus on hand eye coordination as well as big body movements. We have hula hoops, basket balls and awesome fun mat times with dancing and actions. Outdoor play is an important part of keeping healthy and fit with different types of movements such as sack races and making sure to focus on jumping with the sack. We also have a weekly swimming session at our local community centre!

The main focus for all tamariki and kaiako is to have fun while interacting in these experiences, and getting out and about in our community.
