Here at BestStart Whangaparaoa, we like to keep things exciting and challenging for our Tamariki and our outdoor space is no exception. With the sun continuing to shine, we have focused this month on refreshing our outdoor play spaces by swapping some of our equipment between our Under 2 and Over 2 classrooms. This adds another dimension to our play and further encourages the physical development of large motor skills, balance and co-ordination.

The Tamariki in the Under 2's Room have thoroughly enjoyed the new addition of the Monkey Bars, working hard on their strength and fine motor skills to grip and hold onto the bars. In our Over 2's area, the Children have been enjoying finding different ways to utilise the parallel bars. We have seen flexibility and core strength in action as the children swing, pull and monkey crawl their way across the bars and our new transitioners have enjoyed the lower height of the bars to practise their swinging.

It has been wonderful to see the children becoming more confident in controlling their bodies and learning their limits, while their mental, emotional, and physical health is being promoted. We look forward to seeing what new additions and obstacles we can create next!
