We love to get behind a good cause and support our local community. Last week we participated in Pink Shirt Day and celebrated our no-bullying stance, our diversity, and all things that make us special. Tamariki and kaiako were invited to wear pink and the day was filled with lots of Maanakitanga and aroha for each other.

Activities included some meditation with kaiako Neil, art, music, yoga, looking out for one another, sharing awhi, and sharing what we thought was special about each other. Mindfulness is a natural part of our daily routines here at BestStart Girven Road which includes learning how to articulate how we are feeling, acknowledging how others may feel, meditation, and self-regulation. This aligned well with this year's Pink Shirt Day of recognising and celebrating diversity and our individuality seeing the positives in each other.

We encourage our tamariki to speak up and stand together while supporting each other. This creates a wonderful environment for our tamariki to learn and grow in. Visitors to our centre have made comments on how welcoming our tamariki are to both adults and other children, making them feel welcomed and part of our centre whanau.
