With Matariki approaching, it was time at BestStart Lytton to start thinking about our food plantings for the coming year.

We encourage our children in the Takaro class to help us with the weeding, planting, and care of our garden. This helps plant the seed of knowledge for them around gardening and how a garden can provide food to nourish our bodies. The children get to have free range exploring the different plants, learning about the names of the plants and what they produce. Once the food is ready to harvest the children then get to explore all the different tastes associated with the plants they have explored whilst gardening.
