At BestStart Epsom, we believe that the wider world of family and community is an integral part of early childhood curriculum. Plunket is a great organisation which plays a significant role in our community. Plunket. The word inspires warm, fuzzy faith in a benevolent system of early intervention care for mother and baby, a programme that's so much a part of Kiwi life that a world without it would seem deficient, somehow. To express our thankfulness, we all had a fun week supporting Plunket Appeal. Throughout the week we had the blue theme. We provided many learning experiences to our tamariki which benefited them to develop social emotional skills such as kindness, empathy and compassion. We baked cupcakes for fundraise. Our whanau generously donated to buy these special cupcakes with blue icing on them. The entire week we had blue play dough, added blue dye to our clay, blue paint and blue gloop which sparked the children’s creativity and imagination. We decorated the room with blue balloons and tinsels. To conclude this event, on Friday teachers and children came dressed up in blue outfits.

It is Plunket’s vision that Tamariki and whānau are at the heart of everything they do at Whānau Āwhina Plunket. They are dedicated to helping all Kiwi kids have the best possible start to life. By organising this exciting Plunket appeal week, we just say thank to them for the positive difference they make in every kiwi child’s life.
The teachers and children all enjoyed the fun filled week together and thank you to all the parents who contributed generously towards the event. We look forward to doing it all again next year.
