Plunket Day at BestStart Waikite Valley Kindy
Every year we show our support for Plunket by organising a fundraising event at kindy. This year we decided to do something a little different and organise our very first art auction. The children worked hard over several weeks to create their own individual pieces of artwork. They created bigger, collaborative pieces of art that they revisited and added to over time. There was plenty of excitement with children pointing out which pieces of art they wanted their parents to bid on. All art was framed and put on display to resemble an art gallery.
All our parents and families were invited to an afternoon tea to enjoy coffee/tea and cake and to bid on their favourite pieces. With a few friendly bidding wars breaking out our small rural kindy raised a whopping $372.70 for Plunket. We did celebrate our Plunket Fundraising Appeal week with a blue dress up day, blue themed activities and a teddy bears picnic. Every child brought their favourite teddy bear or soft toy in for a day of fun at kindy including an afternoon tea picnic. All the children were eager to introduce their bear/toy and tell us all about them.
