Slime, cookies, and a whole lot of blue! BestStart North Road brought the fun for Plunket Week — and raised $415 in the process. From hilarious fundraisers to heartwarming community spirit, this is how we help tamariki get the best start in life.
BestStart has been running the BestStart Plunket appeal for 10 years and has raised over $324,000! BestStart centres all over New Zealand take part in their own fundraising initiatives to help raise money for Plunket.
At BestStart North Road we supported the Plunket week appeal by selling blue cookies, messy blue day, dress in blue and a teacher blue slime competition. Through out the week tamariki and whanau donated and voted for a kaiako to be slimed. We came together on Friday to watch the top 2 teachers get slimed poured all over them and tamariki joined in. This raised $335 for Plunket. We also had tamariki selling cookies that raised over $80 towards the Plunket appeal. Whānau Āwhina Plunket is Aotearoa New Zealand's largest support service for the health and wellbeing of tamariki under-five and their whānau. As a registered charity, Plunket needs your support to help create positive impact in our communities today, and for the tamariki of the future. The money raised helps Plunket continue to help children in New Zealand have the best possible start to life. Plunket services include PlunketLine, a free 24/7 parenting and child health helpline that receives almost 100,00 calls a year, Well Child Tamariki Ora health checks, mental health support programmes, car seat installation, and a huge variet of playgroups and parent groups in our neighbourhoods.
