BestStart North Road
BestStart North Road sits at the heart of the Waikiwi and Grasmere communities. We are guided by whanaungatanga, building and maintaining relationships with our community and local businesses – we partner with them whenever we can. Our team foster the diverse needs of each individual family and get to know their stories.
Our Vision: Explore, Discover, Learn
At our amazing centre we cater to children aged 3 months to 5 years old, and place our children at the heart of everything we do and they are a central part of our local community.
Tuatara Room (Nursery)
In our natural, safe and nurturing Tuatara Room we support children’s flexible routines, ensuring we provide consistency between home and centre throughout their day. We empower our tamariki through quality interactions promoting integrity and confidence. We are guided by the principle whanaungatanga by growing and maintaining strong relationships with our whanau, our tamariki and our community. We support an open door policy, encouraging whanau to engage in open, honest communication allowing a great sense of belonging. Tamariki are supported to freely explore, to text their limits and boundaries within our stimulating learning environment. We love getting out into the community, exploring our local area and the world around us.
Paihamu Room (Preschool)
The Paihamu Room is driven by project planning creating a sense of wonder and curiosity in their natural, social, living and material worlds. Kaiako guide tamariki between interdepend and independent building confidence and competence forming self help skills, caring for their environment and others. What is unique to our room? We have a wide variety of animals which allow our tamariki the opportunity to experience nurturing and taking care of our animals, feeding them, supporting Kaiako to clean them and of course learning ako about all our animals and how to take care of them!
Pukeko Room (Prep Room)
In the Pukeko room we acknowledge and believe that young children learn through the relationships they experience with people, places and things in their world, which builds a solid foundation for future learning. Kaiako value both planned and spontaneous learning through projects, inquiry and making connections with the wider world. We offer a ‘nature discovery’ program that make a regular excursions to Thompson’s Bush, this gives tamariki the opportunity to become confident learners and explorers of the natural environment. Explore Discover Learn.
