Preparing our Kai
Getting the children involved in cooking their own kai is something that we have always got them to have a go at. The children love sitting around the kai table using their special knives and cutting all the vegetables up for soup. By letting the children help in the preparation of kai, it let’s them have an element of respect for their food because they know that they have created this with their friends and that we shouldn’t waste it.
By helping in the cooking process we are empowering these children to take control of their own learning, letting them have a voice in what they would like to bake or cook and it also teaches them what is safe to use or what may need some teacher help.
