Process art day

Process art day

Today in the Nursery we had our process art day which was so much fun.

We used the big trough lid from the preschool and placed it on the ground, filled with paint. The children/tamariki got to sit, stand, crawl, lie and roll around in the trough and explore the paint in whatever way they wanted which opened up lots of different learning opportunities. This allowed the children to discover that the paint is slippery making moving around difficult as they slid around, enouncing them to move confidently and challenge themselves physically | te wero ā-tinana.

The tamariki loved mixing the different colours with their bodies/tiana, making sense of their worlds by generating and refining working theories | te rangahau me te mātauranga.

The teina tamariki (younger children) went first and they had red/whro, blue/kahurangi, purple/papura and white/ma paint in the trough. When it was time for tuakana tamariki (older children) we had added some green/Kakariki and yellow/Kōwhai. When the afternoon children came along the paint had dried so we added some red/whero, white/ma and yellow/Kōwhai.

This experience allowed the tamariki to use a range of strategies and skills to play and learn with others | te ngākau aroha.
