Our current focus is 'Space' exploration with our Pihinga room mokopuna, it's quite clear how much this particular theme has enriched their understanding of the world around them. We have observed their eagerness to ask questions, their enthusiasm to discover the unknown, and their progression toward being confident and competent learners. Indeed, our learning environment, inspired by the principles of Te Whāriki, is designed to foster such curiosity and exploration.
The open-ended questions asked of the tamariki have been instrumental in this process, enabling them to make sense of their discoveries, develop working theories and deepen their understanding of the natural and physical world. Moreover, our encouragement for them to articulate their own explanations has further bolstered their confidence.
What's most fulfilling is witnessing the joy and depth of learning they experience. It's their smiles, their laughter, and their sense of accomplishment that truly affirms our philosophy here at Best Start Styx Mill – nurturing our tamariki to flourish, to grow, and to be the "best that they can be".
