Rainbow Painting
Painting is an ongoing favourite activity to do in the Discoverers Room. We try and find different ways to paint, use different materials to paint with and select different colours that the children are interested in at the time. On this particular day we decided to do something different and try painting with all the colours of the rainbow. We had Red, Yellow, Orange, Green, Blue and Purple.
The children thoroughly enjoyed being able to choose from a selection of colours while also being exposed to concepts of primary and secondary colours. Watching the children we could see they loved spreading paint from one colour to another making a darker colour when being mixed, this made their eyes light up.
Painting encourages children to express themselves in non verbal ways. It also develops hand eye coordination and small motor skills required for writing. Most importantly it develops imagination which plays a huge part in our little ones learning.
