Here at BestStart Girven Rd, we value the importance of tamariki being ready for their next learning journey at school, and we provide a stimulating and exciting programme that supports tamariki be prepared for school.  Nga tamariki are supported and encouraged to become capable, confident learners, through respect for one another, and the environment. To be kind and caring, be independent, curious, adventurous, and feel inspired to ask questions and explore the greater world around them. What this may look like:

Literacy: writing their name, painting, literacy-rich environment songs, rhymes and games
Numeracy: sorting objects by size, colour and shape, exploring space, puzzles, and counting games
Understanding the world: using their senses to explore, questioning, researching about the world, swimming lessons,
Creativity, arts and music: dance, drama, painting, musical instruments, dress-ups, using imagination
Sharing and relating to others: managing emotions, working independently, lunch box day, visit local retirement village
Physical and Gross motor skills: climbing, running, jumping, skipping, dancing, balancing, hand-eye co-ordination
