This month at BestStart Kamo Central we celebrated Big Heart Day, by having a fun red themed day. The Kaiako and tamariki all dressed in red, and we even had red themed healthy food.

The tamariki participated in a range of red day themed activities such as, riding red bikes, red themed art, red slime, red water play, and spent a lot of time being active as they danced along to heathy heart songs. The purpose of this fun day is to all come together to raise awareness about keeping our hearts healthy to prevent heart disease and raise funds for life-saving heart research.

We held a raffle for a hamper that was filled with red things to help raise money. Heathy heart is something we are passionate about here at BestStart Kamo central as we already hold two gold heathy heart awards and are currently working on gaining our third. This links strongly to Te Whāriki and the learning outcome, “Keeping themselves healthy and caring for themselves | te oranga nui.” The tamariki learn all about how to keep themselves healthy and active. Along with why it is so important for their growing bodies and their brains.
