Tamariki's participation in Crazy Hat Day, Pet Rock Day, and Special Person's Day aligns with the principles and goals outlined in Te Whāriki, the early childhood curriculum in New Zealand. Te Whāriki emphasizes holistic development and learning through a range of experiences.

During these school holidays we had our school holiday programme which included Crazy Hat Day and Pet Rock Day, tamariki engaged in creative art processes, exploring materials and ideas, which aligns with Te Whāriki's goal of fostering exploration, play, and creativity.

By encouraging tamariki to try new things and collaborate with others, they develop important skills such as communication, problem-solving, and cooperation. Additionally, the involvement of whānau during Special Person's Day supports the principle of whānau tangata, recognizing the importance of family and community in a child's learning journey. This event strengthens the connections between tamariki, whānau, and kaiako, promoting a sense of belonging and identity. Te Whāriki also emphasizes the importance of language and communication development (mana reo). Through conversations, tamariki express their ideas, share their creations, and demonstrate an understanding of their experiences. These interactions further enhance their language skills and promote mana reo. By incorporating these experiences and principles from Te Whāriki, tamariki are provided with rich learning opportunities that nurture their holistic development, creativity, social connections, and language skills.
