"Can you make a clubby house, ?" one of the children asked.

We headed to the shed to get all the equipment,  ropes and the large couch cover, I threw the cover over the monkey bars and tied it to the fence and the deck the children proceeded to throw the balls into the hollows, jumping under it and touching the ceiling.

Inevitably they began to climb and slide down it from the boxes into the hollows of the material.

The children are using all the muscles in their arms and legs to climb back up, they are learning to be safe, take turns and are watching out for others.

At BestStart Lynmore we foster aspects of risky play for children, we provide an environment and programme which not only challenges children but allows them to encounter, manage and master their own risks.

They spent the whole day using it and requested it again the next day!

Children who engage in risky play develop skills to handle the feelings of nervousness and fear that can come with trying new things. This knowledge gives them the skills they need to adapt to new situations and explore new environments—skills that become even more important when they go to school.
