During Samoan Language Week at BestStart Coronation Road, children learnt Samoan songs with the support of our Samoan Kaiako and the Papatoetoe West School Samoan group. Kaiako had also set up a wide range of activities for tamariki, such as painting tapa and Samoan flowers, dress-up day, and a variety of music and movement for the celebration. Our lovely teachers, Sipaea and Sarah, organised a special Samoan lunch and morning tea for the tamariki. The lunches were well-liked by the children!

At BestStart Coronation Road, we believe in the power of sharing each other's individuality with tamariki, teachers, and centre whanau. We love celebrating all events in our tamariki's lives. This connects to Te Whariki (ECE curriculum) learning outcomes such as;

Mana whenua (Belonging) - Children are provided with an environment where they connect links with the family and the wider world. Provided with the right guidance and encouragement, children will learn to make connections between people, places, and things in their world.

Mana tangata (Contribution) - Children are provided with an environment where they are provided with opportunities to learn irrespective of gender, ability, age, ethnicity, or background. Provided with the right guidance and encouragement, children will learn to treat their peers fairly and include them in play.
