During the month of January at BestStart Avondale, we provided specially planned holiday experiences each day, that added brightness and joy to the hot summer days. There were days when we got really messy with goop, bubbles and shaving foam. There were other days when we got dressed up in our special costumes and had a party with our friends. The pool party and water splash day were enjoyed by children of all age group. We had a special visitor one day; Suess who is one of our teacher’s pet dog who came to see us on the old Mac Donald’s farm day.  Pyjama party, bike day, Sports day and teddy bears picnic were some other fun events.

The parent/ whanau were equally enthusiastic in getting ready their children for all the fun activities planned whether it be dressing up their children in swim togs/ pyjamas or a costume party.

At this time of the year were most tamariki returned to the centre either from their holidays or from their long break after the lockdowns, we believe such planned fun experiences helped them re-establish their bonds with the teachers and friends and enhanced their sense of belonging and well being at the centre. It was great to see the children participating and involving in all experiences and sharing their fun stories with their whanau.
