What a fantastic second week of our School Holiday Programme! Our tamariki continued to enjoy a wide range of exciting experiences filled with creativity, exploration, learning and fun. Throughout the week, children had opportunities to follow their interests, try new things, work alongside their friends and create many wonderful memories together.
One of the biggest highlights of the programme was our Food Stall Day. Kaiako set up a variety of food stalls around the centre, transforming the environment into a vibrant market experience. Tamariki were given play money and had the opportunity to visit different stalls to “purchase” food items. They enjoyed making choices, counting their money, taking turns and interacting with their friends and teachers. The excitement and enthusiasm throughout the day created a lively and engaging atmosphere as children explored each stall and practised real-life experiences through imaginative play.
Our Science Day sparked curiosity and encouraged tamariki to investigate, discover and explore. Children engaged in a range of hands-on science and sensory experiences, using their senses to observe, experiment and make discoveries. There were opportunities to explore different textures, materials and reactions, encouraging children to ask questions, think creatively and develop their understanding of the world around them. It was wonderful to see tamariki confidently sharing ideas and investigating together.
Another favourite experience was Mad Hatter’s Day, where creativity took centre stage. Tamariki became designers as they created and decorated their own unique hats using a variety of materials and loose parts. Children explored colours, patterns, textures and shapes while expressing their individual ideas and creativity. The pride on their faces as they showcased their finished creations was wonderful to see, and each hat reflected the imagination and personality of its creator.
Week 2 was filled with laughter, friendship, creativity and discovery. It has been wonderful to see our tamariki actively participating in each experience, supporting one another, sharing ideas and developing confidence through play.
Our School Holiday Programme has provided meaningful opportunities for children to learn, explore and connect with others in a fun and engaging environment. It has been especially lovely to see everyone spending time together, creating shared memories and strengthening their sense of belonging within our wider centre whānau.
A big thank you to all our tamariki and whānau for being part of such a successful holiday programme. We have loved seeing the joy, curiosity and enthusiasm each child has brought to the past two weeks, and we look forward to many more exciting adventures together.
