Science is here

Science and nature play provides children with opportunities to explore their ideas about the natural world and learn about the world around them. This sort of play encourages children to develop their curiosity, ask questions, investigate their environment and learn about ways to find answers.

Here at BestStart Papatoetoe, Nga Tamariki have been exploring the world through a range of different activities Our Tāmariki had fun exporing different colours this month. In Our toetoe room children investigated what happens whe different colours are mixed togather . In our Harakeke room children had fun observing the different patterns created by the different colours. Colours are part of our everyday life , as each colour creates a different mode of learning, such as red is powerful and attention grabber, blue brings clems and peace , green relates us with the nature and yellow encourages creativity and optimism . Children really got excited when they mixed different colours together and created another colour .This coincided well with the Hindu festival of colours “Holi” and we want to say Happy Holi to all our Hindu Whānau .

Through each of these different activities, Our Tamariki have been enhancing their creativity skills alongside curiosity with their environment. They are also enhancing their social skills as well as exploring another culture as they work alongside their peers.
