The tamariki have been loving being ouside in the beautiful sunshine recently. On this day, the tamariki enjoyed exploring painting through the art of screen painting. They used their brushes in various different motions to create a range of different techniques and patterns ontheir pictures. Some children even liked to get their hands in there and used their hands and fingers as their paint brushes. It was so cool to observe the tamariki exploring art and paint in their own individual ways.

This supports them leading their own learning and learning what they do not yet know as well as teaching others what they already know. This painting experience supports the tamariki growing exploration skills as they are learning techiques for reasoning and problem solving. The tamariki are also strengthening their fine motor skills. Fine motor skills are commonly used when writing (or in this case painting) as we hold a utensile to draw or write what we wish. As our fine motor skills develop, so will our hand eye coordination and we will be confident writters or even artists.
