Over recent weeks, our tamariki have been embracing the changing seasons through a rich variety of learning experiences both indoors and out.

Excursions to the local park have provided wonderful opportunities to explore the natural environment, develop physical skills, and strengthen social connections.

Climbing, running, and group play have supported confidence and coordination, while also fostering a sense of belonging within our wider community. With the arrival of autumn, children have delighted in collecting fallen leaves, using them as inspiration for creative art experiences.

Through leaf printing, collage, and colour exploration, tamariki have been able to express themselves while developing fine motor skills and an appreciation for nature’s beauty. The warmer days have also invited plenty of water play, a favourite among many. Pouring, splashing, and experimenting with water has supported early scientific thinking, problem-solving, and sensory engagement.

As the weather begins to cool, we have introduced new seasonal experiences, including exploring ice and engaging in playful sledding activities on the icy grass. These opportunities encourage curiosity, resilience, and an understanding of changing weather patterns. Messy play continues to be a valued part of our programme, offering children the freedom to explore textures, take risks, and engage their senses in meaningful ways. Alongside this, creative art exploration remains a strong focus, with open-ended materials allowing tamariki to lead their own learning and express their unique ideas.

Together, these experiences support holistic development, nurturing confident, capable learners who are curious about the world around them. We look forward to what Winter has to offer in the coming weeks and new learning experiences based around Winter
