Sensorial equipment in the Paua room

The children in the Paua room enjoy exploring with the sensorial equipment in a way that extends their creativity, exploration, and gross and fine motor skills.

The sensorial equipment is used in a Montessori classroom to develop the five senses: sight, listening, touch, taste, and smell. Montessori Sensorial activities help children to think cognitively, helping them in their future learning and also their personal and interpersonal development.

Children learn through experiences, and by engaging in Montessori Sensorial activities, children are able to differentiate between sizes and order through visual discrimination.

Once the children have gained confidence with the activities and equipment, they are free to explore the materials further in their own way. We love to watch the children's creativity shine through and see what amazing things they can create.

"The environment must be rich in motives which lend interest to activity and invite the child to conduct his own experiences."
