Learning how to respect our environment is an aspect of our curriculum which we enjoy teaching our tamariki. Involving all ages of children in water play allows them to experience the properties of water and see the joy that it can bring both young and old.

These play experiences really make our jobs as teachers worthwhile, as we observe children display pure delight, excitement and joy from the simple things in life. As adults we can really learn from these young children, to live in the moment and enjoy every aspect of the little things in life, that provide us with a sense of peace and happiness.

Both our classrooms enjoy a variety of water play, whether it be mixing colours to make new colours, watching the water splash around us or using water to learn about properties such as float / sink.  Sharing these experiences with their peers, children are able to extend their knowledge of the water by using the rich language skills as teachers role model the scientific language alongside children as they play.
