The Set for School programme in the Koru Room at BestStart Botany Road is specifically designed for children aged 3.5 to 5 years. We provide meaningful learning experiences to support children as they prepare for school. We create a warm, inclusive and caring environment where every child feels safe, valued, respected and supported.
Through play, hands-on activities and meaningful learning experiences, children develop confidence, independence, resilience and essential skills at their own pace. This allows them to participate confidently and experience success in their own way.
Our programme encourages children to develop early literacy and numeracy skills, communication, problem-solving and social competence. Through group activities, storytelling, creative experiences and collaborative play, children learn to share, take turns, listen to others, and express their thoughts and feelings.
We also support children in developing self-help skills, following routines, making choices and taking responsibility for their belongings, helping them become more independent and confident learners.
We recognise each child’s individual strengths, interests and learning needs, celebrate their progress, and provide opportunities to extend their learning. By fostering curiosity, perseverance and a positive attitude towards learning, we help children develop a strong sense of belonging.
We work in partnership with families to ensure each child feels encouraged and prepared for a smooth, positive and confident transition to school.
