Our Set for School programme in the Tupuārangi room is designed to support children as they confidently transition from early learning into a school environment. The programme focuses on building independence, social competence, and a growing sense of responsibility through meaningful, age-appropriate experiences.

To keep families well informed and involved, we provide clear and engaging wall displays within the room. These displays share information about school readiness skills, learning goals, and what children are practising each day. They are regularly updated with photos, learning stories, and reflections, giving parents insight into their child’s journey and progress.

A key part of the programme is our regular excursions to local schools and local shops. These visits help children become familiar with school settings, routines, and expectations within the local community, while building excitement and confidence about starting school. Updated photos and reflections from each visit are shared in the room so families can see and talk about these experiences with their children at home.

Te Whāriki learning outcome: Children develop a sense of belonging, responsibility, and confidence as they participate within a wider community and prepare for their next learning steps.

We value strong partnerships with whānau and welcome ongoing conversations about your child’s readiness for school.
