At Beststart Te Aroha, we decided to celebrate Plunket Appeal Week in a fun and engaging way by seeking donations from our children and whānau.
We set up jars for each kaiako, allowing everyone to vote for who they would like to see slimed at the end of the week.
This created an exciting buzz throughout the centre, with children eagerly discussing their choices and encouraging others to get involved. It quickly became a real conversation starter and brought a strong sense of community and participation.
The enthusiasm from tamariki was wonderful to see, as they took ownership of the process and proudly contributed. Throughout the week, anticipation grew as everyone waited to see which teacher would receive the most votes.
By the end of the week, Shanani was our clear winner, receiving the highest number of votes. She embraced the moment with great humour and was an absolute trooper when it came time to be slimed. The children were thrilled watching it happen, filled with laughter and excitement. Afterwards, they especially enjoyed having a turn exploring and playing with the slime themselves, extending the fun even further.
It was a fantastic way to support a meaningful cause while creating lasting memories together.
