Slime fun day!

Slime fun day!

Today we slimed a teacher to celebrate our annual Plunket appeal week.

Thanks to the generosity of our centre, whānau, we managed to raise $300 for Plunket. How amazing! Every dollar guaranteed you one vote towards the teacher of your choosing.

Afternoon tea was put on, and we asked families to come and watch the sliming go down. Two of our amazing teachers were neck and neck with votes, so they decided to get slimed together. It was gooey, slimy and slippery, and even though the teachers were the ones getting slimed, everybody ended up getting in on the action. By the end of it, most of us were covered head to toe. It was such a fun afternoon!

Events like this, where we can spend time with whānau in a relaxed setting, are an essential part of creating those close relationships with each other. We don't focus solely on our tamariki but acknowledge that their entire family have a part to play in their development and learning, so we must work as a team alongside one another.

Our curriculum Te Whāriki, discusses the importance of connecting links between people, places, and things in children's worlds, and events like these allow those connections to be made.
